by Laura RupertWe all know that fast food isn't healthy but when we pull through the drive through window and place our order we rarely think the food will make us sick, or even kill us. However, this is exactly what happened to nine New Yorkers and more than 60 nationwide.
An E Coli outbreak has been linked to Taco Bell and more than Long Islanders have been affected. So far the virus has shown up in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Utah. There are lots of other potential E Coli cases as well that are currently being investigated.
The food that carried the E Coli virus is considered to be the green onions. However, it has not been officially concluded what food or ingredient caused the Taco Bell E Coli outbreak.
Of course, Taco Bell will probably have quite a few law suits to fight. But, this shouldn't be the biggest concern. The biggest concern should be the health and safety of the general public. And this should be a concern across the industry. But, what can be done? One thing for sure is that more tests should be conducted on fresh produce. When it comes to the public health all possible measures should be taken to ensure outbreaks like the Taco Bell one don't happen.
