by Laura RupertDid you know Long Island has its very own Music Hall of Fame? It's ok if you didn't because it is relatively new. Of course, what is a Music Hall of Fame without any inductees? Not very much. So one of the first inductees was one of Long Island's own: Billy Joel. He was inducted into the hall of fame by fellow Long Islander Alec Baldwin.
The individual who receives the honor of being Long Island Music Hall of Fame's number one inductee is Joan Jett. Do you remember her? She sang "I Love Rock n Roll" and moved to the Island in 1979. She was honored to be the fist member inducted into Long Island's Music Hall of Fame and even played a concert in Manhattan afterwards.
There were others who made Long Island Music Hall of Fame's list of inductees as well. These include Vanilla Fudge, Mose Allison, Harry Chapin, Twisted Sister's Dee Snider, and Little Anthony and the Imperials.
No Home
Currently, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame has no home. It is filling up with members but its location has yet to be determined. However, don't worry. As soon as we know where the Long Island Music Hall of Fame plans on setting up shop we will pass that information on.
